Presentation of New Scholarly Publications at the Institute of Contemporary History
On Wednesday, 1 October 2025, the Institute of Contemporary History hosted a presentation of two new scholarly publications:
- East Central European Crisis Discourses in the Twentieth Century: A Never-Ending Story? (Routledge, 2024)
- Intellectuals and the Crisis of Politics in the Interwar Period and Beyond (Oxford University Press, 2025)
The event featured Balázs Trencsényi (Central European University, Vienna), Isidora Grubački, Marko Zajc, and Tjaša Konovšek (Institute of Contemporary History, Ljubljana), and Stevo Đurašković (University of Zagreb). The discussion was moderated by Adela Hîncu (Institute of Contemporary History, Ljubljana).
The conversation focused on how intellectuals in the 20th century understood and shaped political crises and how the language of “crisis” has influenced the history of Central and Eastern Europe, with particular attention to the Yugoslav experience.
