Between November 20–23, our colleagues Isidora Grubački and Adela Hîncu took part in the 57th Annual Convention of ASEEES in Washington, DC.
Isidora Grubački presented her paper “Peasant Women and Women’s Rights in Yugoslavia, 1930s–1950s: Seeking Peasant Women’s Voices” in the panel “Political Thought, Memory, and Biographies from Women’s Intellectual History in East Central Europe.”
Adela Hîncu spoke in the panel she co-organized, “Alienation Theory and Socialist Practice in Postwar Eastern Europe,” presenting “Alienation Theory and Research in the 1970s–80s and the ‘Problem of Socialism,’” based on her Marie Skłodowska-Curie project “Transnational Sociology and Concepts of Social Expertise in Eastern Europe, 1970s–2000s.” She also served as a discussant for the panel “Women Experts and Feminist Knowledge Production in East Central Europe, 1945–1989.”
