The role of the CLARIN research infrastructure for contemporary slavic studies
Darja Fišer, 2025
Advances in digitization and datafication have been transformative for linguistics and other disciplines
that work with language materials. This has increased the need for research infrastructures that
supports the development, documentation, archiving, dissemination, reuse and citation of language
resources and tools which is prerequisite for verifiable and reproducible research. Still, the potential of
research infrastructures in language technology remains undervalued and underutilised in the
communities of language-based Slavic Studies and Education. In this talk I will present the recent
achievements and ongoing work of the CLARIN research infrastructure relevant for data-intensive
language studies. I will focus on the key language resources and technologies as well as training
materials and expertise built around the Open Science and FAIR data paradigm that CLARIN ERIC
offers in order to support scholars interested in language-based Slavic Studies.
