DARIAH Annual Event 2025: When Göttingen looked back at the past
We spent the hot days of June (June 17-20, 2025 to be precise) in the charming German city of Göttingen, where the annual DARIAH conference took place. This year, under the title The Past, we were taken on a journey to nowhere else but the past! Of course with modern digital tools, fresh approaches and a pinch of innovation.
Over four intense days, we had the opportunity to hear a number of interesting papers from all corners of the field, using digital humanities approaches to analyze, interpret and present historical and archeological data. All topics were, of course, related to digital methods, interactive media and computer analysis which transform historical data into a new, more accessible form.

You could meet our group (DARIAH-SI) at two venues:
- Presentation entitled Teaching the past with future tools: digital humanities in historical education revealed how history students at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana learn about digital methods through practical training. Yes, even the past can be learned with the tools of the future!

- Poster Shared history, shared data: unlocking World War II victim databases for public engagement illustrated the revamped World War II Victims Database, which now provides the public with better access to data, and it is not meant just for researchers!

And some internal news …
The first day of the conference was not only marked by presentations, as numerous working group meetings took place. Among them was a meeting of the National Coordinator Committee, where Slovenia was represented by Vojko Gorjanc (national coordinator) and Katja Meden (deputy coordinator).
