Conference Revščina v starosti: perspektiva življenjskega poteka, vsakdanjega življenja in socialnih politik
On 25 September 2025, the Institute of Contemporary History hosted a conference dedicated to poverty in old age and its various dimensions.
The event presented the results of the research project Everyday Life and Life Course of Older People Living in Poverty. The research demonstrated how life trajectories – from education, employment, and family life to caregiving responsibilities – shape the position of older people. Special attention was given to intersecting factors such as gender, health, migration, and environment, as well as the impact of political systems. It was emphasized that the social position of today’s generations has been strongly influenced by the transition from socialism to capitalism.
The conference concluded with a roundtable that opened discussion on current perspectives on poverty in old age.
