Afternoons with DARIAH – Dr. Wolfgang Göderle
On 26 November 2025, the Institute of Contemporary History hosted the first lecture in the new Afternoons with DARIAH series.
We welcomed Dr. Wolfgang Göderle from the University of Graz, who presented the project “Unlocking the Schematismus”, focused on the digital processing of one of the most extensive historical sources of the Habsburg Monarchy.
In his lecture, he highlighted the project’s interdisciplinary approach and new methods in machine learning and OCR for analysing historical documents. The lecture was held in English and was also available via Zoom.
