The international workshop Capital and Empire in Modern Southeastern Europe
The international workshop Capital and Empire in Modern Southeastern Europe took place at the New Europe College in Bucharest.
The event brought together researchers exploring economic and political transformations in Southeastern Europe.
Our colleague dr. Oliver Pejić participated with his paper “The Westens in Central and Eastern Europe: The Rise and Fall of a Metalworking Business Empire under Changing Political Regimes.” His presentation highlighted the development and decline of the Westens business empire in the context of shifting political systems across Central and Eastern Europe.
The workshop offered a valuable space for exchanging research, ideas, and perspectives on the interplay of capital, state, and empire in the region.
We share a few photo highlights from the event.
