LECTURE BY DR ANNA HORSTMANN AT INZ
On Thursday, 16 July 2026, Dr Anna Horstmann gave a lecture at the Institute of Contemporary History as part of her visiting fellowship.
She presented her habilitation project, which is based on approximately 7,500 school essays written in 1955 and 1956 and explores how pupils in West Germany remembered the Second World War and the post-war period through their own experiences.
She also discussed the preparation of this extensive material for digital analysis and presented the broader research framework of her project on transnational memories of occupation across generations in Europe.
