COLLEAGUES FROM THE INSTITUTE FOR RECENT HISTORY OF SERBIA VISIT INZ

On 10 and 11 September, the Institute of Contemporary History hosted colleagues from the Institute for Recent History of Serbia (INIS) – Dr Dmitar Tasić, Principal Research Fellow, and Dr Nataša Milićević and Dr Jelena Rafailović, Senior Research Fellows.

The two-day visit focused primarily on presenting our work in the fields of research infrastructure and digital humanities, as well as exchanging experiences and good practices.

We introduced our colleagues to the work of the Digital Humanities and Research Infrastructure programme groups, the SIstory portal, our databases on the victims of the First and Second World Wars, and our work with historical population censuses. We also discussed copyright and digital publishing and presented the work of the INZ Publishing House, the journal Contributions to Contemporary History, and developments in electronic publishing.

Part of the programme was also devoted to practical aspects of digitisation and the processing of materials – from scanning, recording, and virtual reality to a presentation of our online activities and INZ public relations.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity to give our colleagues from Serbia a closer look at the digital and infrastructural work that supports our research activities, to exchange experiences, and to discuss possibilities for future cooperation.
