Dalila Mirović, PhD

Dalila Mirović holds a BA in Comparative Literature and Library and Information Science, as well as an MA in Sociology with a focus on Cultural Studies. She holds a PhD in Information Sciences, having defended her doctoral dissertation in the autumn of 2026. Her doctoral research focuses on knowledge organization and ontology development for the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with particular attention to the representation of both tangible and intangible heritage within semantic information systems.

She has professional experience in libraries, museums, and the NGO sector, particularly through projects addressing women’s human rights, memory studies, and the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage. Her work brings together interdisciplinary perspectives from information science, cultural studies, and heritage research, with a particular interest in the social role of digital cultural infrastructures and knowledge organization systems.

Statement of interest:

My interest in a fellowship at INZ stems from its pioneering role in Digital Humanities in Slovenia and the wider region, particularly through DARIAH-SI, DARIAH ERIC, and CLARIN.SI. Its work on digital collections, multilingual and multimodal data, and DH methodologies closely aligns with my research interests in knowledge organization, digital cultural heritage, and interoperable infrastructures.

Having completed my PhD in Information Sciences, with doctoral research focused on developing an ontology for cultural heritage data in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am especially interested in how established DH infrastructures are developed and sustained institutionally. Bosnia and Herzegovina still lacks a stable DH infrastructure despite its rich cultural heritage, making the experience and knowledge gained at INZ relevant beyond my own academic development.

At the History Museum of BiH, I work on digitization, digital heritage, and memory-related projects. As the Museum recently joined DARIAH-BiH, I see the fellowship as an opportunity to gain practical insight into established DH practices and methodologies that could support similar developments within my institution and the broader heritage sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
