Gabriela Pošteková, Visiting Fellowship 2024/25
Biography
Gabriela Pošteková earned her degree in History at Comenius University in Bratislava, where she is currently a PhD student in the Department of General History. Her research focuses on Catholic feminism in Czechoslovakia in the first half of the 20th century, examining how these movements navigated political and social challenges. She is also part of the research project VEGA 1/0456/24, “The Slovak Intellectual in the First Half of the 20th Century in the Mirror of the Era.” As part of her academic development, she has undertaken a research stay at the London School of Economics and Political Science and participated in the Impactful Science Communication Training at Ghent University in Belgium. Her work is deeply rooted in the history of feminisms, women’s intellectual history, and political thought.

Motivation
I am thrilled to be part of the Visiting Fellowship Program at the Institute of Contemporary History. This opportunity allows me to fully dedicate myself to my research in an intellectually stimulating environment. Being here enables me to explore valuable archival resources, engage in discussions with leading scholars, and refine my analytical approach. I deeply appreciate the chance to collaborate with experts in political and social history, as well as those working on women’s intellectual history and transnational feminist movements. This fellowship is an important step in my academic journey, and I am excited to contribute to and learn from the Institute’s vibrant research community.
