Agustín Cosovschi, PhD
Research Associate
Agustín Cosovschi is a historian. He completed his PhD at the EHESS in France and the University of San Martín in Argentina. His research deals primarily with the history of the Cold War in Southeast Europe from a global perspective. His works combine approaches in political and intellectual history with digital methods in mapping and network analysis. He also serves as a member of the editorial team of The Programming Historian.
He is also the holder of the €1.5 million five-year ERC project “Brokers of Non-Alignment: Biographical and Network Approaches to the Making of the Third World” (Brokers-of-NAM), which was submitted to the panel for the study of the human past. He is the first ERC project holder to embark on an independent research career in the field of human past studies in Slovenia. With the present research project, he will shed light on how the Cold War unfolded in Third World countries. As part of the research, he will study the life paths of five actors from Lebanon, Cyprus, Chile, Burma, and Yugoslavia, who played a central role in shaping the Non-Aligned Movement and promoting anti-colonial and anti-imperialist ideas in the Third World. At the same time, the project marks an original approach to using digital tools for historical research.
