7th international Workshop on Business History in Central and Eastern Europe

On October 23–24, 2025, the 7th Workshop on Business History in Central and Eastern Europe took place at the Institute of Contemporary History in Ljubljana, under the title Business and the Natural Environment in the History of Central and Eastern Europe.

The event, organized by Dr. Ivan Smiljanić in cooperation with the European Business History Association (EBHA) and supported by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), brought together researchers from various European institutions.

Participants explored the intersections of business, economic, and environmental history, addressing topics such as industrial impacts on nature, resource use, and energy systems in Central and Eastern Europe. The workshop concluded with a roundtable discussion on writing business history in a broader European context.
