Science Month @INZ: The Social Effects of Science – Between Ambition and Reality
At the Institute of Contemporary History, the Science Month @INZ event titled The Social Effects of Science – Between Ambition and Reality took place on 7 November 2025. The event was dedicated to discussing the role of science in contemporary society, its impact on society and the environment, and systemic approaches to evaluating the social effects of research.
Two roundtables brought together representatives from scientific, research, and political institutions, who highlighted the importance of cooperation between science and its broader environment, while also discussing dilemmas, risks, and power relations within the scientific sphere.
The event was held in a hybrid format, both in person and online, and was moderated by Dr Jana Javornik.
In this post, we share some photo highlights from the event, which encouraged a deeper reflection on the role of science in today’s society. Recordings of both roundtables are available at: https://sistory.si/publication/71216
You are warmly invited to watch!
