LAHTEX PROJECT EVENT

On 9 June 2026, the Institute of Contemporary History hosted an event of the LahTex project, which is developing a corpus of easy-to-read Slovenian texts.

Representatives of Zavod RISA, RTV Slovenija, and the Competence Centre for Easy-to-Read Language presented their experiences and activities, while the Institute of Contemporary History and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, showcased their research within the project.

Our colleague Dr Vojko Gorjanc, the project leader, presented the goals of LahTex and the development of the easy-to-read corpus, which will contribute both to a better understanding of easy-to-read Slovenian and to the advancement of modern language technologies.

Participants emphasized that artificial intelligence can significantly support the creation of easy-to-read texts, but that the quality and accessibility of content still depend on professional expertise and collaboration with easy-to-read users.

SARA ŠIFRAR KRAJNIK IN VIENNA

Our colleague Sara Šifrar Krajnik presented her doctoral research in June at the ZUG-minisymposium at BOKU University. During her stay in Vienna, she also conducted additional archival research at the Österreichisches Staatsarchiv, collecting and analyzing sources that will contribute to the further development of her doctoral project.
