DOMINIK GUTMEYR-SCHNUR – History on the Edge
On 17 June 2026, we hosted a new lecture at the Institute of Contemporary History as part of the History on the Edge lecture series.
In his lecture “Yugoslavia and Cambodia: Entangled Histories of Non-Alignment,” Dominik Gutmeyr-Schnur presented how Yugoslav and Cambodian political histories intersected on multiple levels, and how transnational encounters helped shape the social history of labour and education.
Special attention was devoted to the activities of Yugoslav companies in Cambodia and Cambodian students in Yugoslavia, as well as to the visual practices that shaped official and private imaginaries of non-alignment.
The lecture brought together political, social, economic, and cultural history, and presented part of a project that systematically examines relations between Yugoslavia and Cambodia within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, contributing to a decentralised history of the Cold War.
The event was held in English, both at INZ and via Zoom.
The full lecture will soon be available on our YouTube channel SIstory Info.
We are sharing a few photo highlights from the event.
