IVAN SMILJANIĆ AND NATAŠA HENIG MIŠČIČ AT AN INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP IN PRAGUE
At the end of September, our colleagues Ivan Smiljanić and Nataša Henig Miščič attended the international workshop “Financing Business in the History of Central and Eastern Europe”, held on September 24–25, 2026, at Charles University in Prague.
The eighth Workshop on Business History in Central and Eastern Europe focused on the history of business financing and the connections between financial institutions, the economy, and entrepreneurship.
Our colleagues presented research on Slovenian economic history during the interwar period:
- Ivan Smiljanić presented a paper titled “Finding a Loophole: Two Cases of Controversial Self-Financing in Slovenian Interwar Economic History”, examining two cases of controversial self-financing practices in Slovenia’s interwar economy.
- Nataša Henig Miščič presented her paper “Credit, Ownership and Upgrade: Ljubljana Credit Bank and United Paper Mills in the Interwar Period”, exploring the connections between credit, ownership structures, and modernisation through the case of Ljubljana Credit Bank and United Paper Mills.
The event, organised by the Institute of History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, in cooperation with the European Business History Association (EBHA), provided an opportunity to exchange research findings on the economic and business history of Central and Eastern Europe.
We are sharing a few photo highlights from the event!
