KATJA MEDEN AND NIKOLA LJUBEŠIĆ AT THE CLARIN 2026 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN BRIGHTON
From September 29 to October 1, 2026, the CLARIN Annual Conference 2026 took place in Brighton, United Kingdom, bringing together researchers from the fields of language technologies, digital humanities, social sciences, and the humanities.
Our colleagues also presented their research in the “Abstract Presentations: ParlaMint” session:
- Katja Meden, together with Tomaž Erjavec from the Jožef Stefan Institute, presented “Tracing Political Identities Through Metadata in Slovenian Parliamentary Debates”, exploring political identities through metadata from Slovenian parliamentary debates.
- Nikola Ljubešić, together with Ivan Porupski, presented “Past the Rapids: Downstream Research on ParlaSpeech”, demonstrating the research potential of the multilingual parliamentary speech corpus ParlaSpeech, including its use in analysing speech, emotional tone, and linguistic features.
Both contributions demonstrate how large collections of parliamentary data can be used to open up new avenues for research into political discourse and spoken language.
