THE FIRST LECTURE IN THE NEW EDGE OF HISTORY SERIES
On October 7, 2026, the Institute of Contemporary History launched a new lecture series, Edge of History, dedicated to showcasing the research of our colleagues, their projects, and new scholarly publications.
At the first event, Marko Zajc and Neja Blaj Hribar presented the scholarly monograph “Political Transformations in the Interwar Period: The Case of Slovenian Political Thought”, edited by Isidora Grubački and Marko Zajc. The discussion was moderated by Oliver Pejić.
The monograph features English translations of 16 selected primary sources of Slovenian political thought from the interwar period, accompanied by biographical introductions and explanations of their broader historical, political, and intellectual contexts.
The publication offers a fresh perspective on the diversity of political ideas in interwar Slovenia, moving beyond the traditional division of political thought into Catholic, liberal, and Marxist currents. It was produced within the framework of the political history research programme at INZ, and its conception was also shaped by discussions at an international workshop held in Ljubljana in April 2024.
The first lecture in the new series provided an opportunity to explore approaches to the history of political thought and reflect on the significance of Slovenian political ideas in the broader European context.
The monograph is freely available in open access:
