ESEH 2025: Climate History in Uppsala
The Swedish city of Uppsala hosted ESEH 2025 – The 13th European Society for Environmental History Conference: Climate Histories, one of the most important European conferences in the field of environmental history, from August 18 to 22, 2025. The conference brought together researchers from around the world for five days of discussions on the history of climate change, the impact of the environment on society, and the role of humans in shaping water and landscape environments. A wide range of topics was presented – from early hydropower projects to experiences with floods that marked European territories in the 19th and 20th centuries.

International Networking
In addition to the rich scientific program, the conference also offered space for meetings, discussions, and networking. Our researchers joined a vibrant community, strengthening the understanding of environmental history and its relevance for contemporary times through in-depth research and international exchanges.
