INVITATION TO THE FINAL WORKSHOP OF THE ARIS PROJECT SYSTEMS OF CARE AND EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SENSORY DISABILITIES IN THE FIRST AND SECOND YUGOSLAV STATE
We invite you to the final workshop of the project “Systems of Care and Education for Children with Sensory Disabilities in the First and Second Yugoslav State”, which will take place on 9 September 2026 at the Institute of Contemporary History in Ljubljana.
The workshop will bring together researchers and individuals with personal experience to explore, from both historical and contemporary perspectives, the development of care, education, rehabilitation, and employment of people with sensory disabilities.
The programme will be divided into three thematic sections, ranging from the beginnings of organized care and education for people with disabilities, through the development of systems and personal experiences in socialist Yugoslavia, to questions of education, employment, inclusion, and the position of people with sensory disabilities during the wars in Yugoslavia and today.
The diverse programme will offer insights into the development of this field across different historical periods and provide an opportunity to discuss past and present experiences of people with sensory disabilities.
