PRESENTATION OF THE MONOGRAPH HIDDEN CORNERS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR – FROM THE CARNIC ALPS TO THE ADRIATIC SEA
On 19 May 2026 at 2:00 p.m., the Institute of Contemporary History will host a presentation of the monograph Hidden Corners of the First World War – from the Carnic Alps to the Adriatic Sea.
The monograph will be presented by Prof. Vinko Avsenak, one of the three authors of the book, which is the result of many years of research by three friends from three countries: Karl Pallasmann from Austria, Marco Pascoli from Italy, and Vinko Avsenak from Slovenia.
In their research and preparation of the book, the authors focused on lesser-known and even completely unknown sites of the First World War battlefields in the area stretching from the Carnic Alps to the Adriatic Sea, as well as on their hinterlands. The trilingual monograph comprises 255 pages and includes around 650 photographs and maps, bringing readers closer to the rich yet often overlooked heritage of the First World War in this region.
The event will take place at the Institute of Contemporary History, Privoz 11, Ljubljana.
You are warmly invited!
