DR MOJCA ŠORN ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT MEMORIES STILL LIVE ON FOR HISTORIOGRAPHY
Our colleague Dr Mojca Šorn took part in an event marking Victory Day, held on 8 May 2026 at the Fužine Home for Older People. In her contribution, she presented the importance of the project Memories Live On for historians and historiography.
The project Memories Live On draws attention to the exceptional value of personal testimonies, memories, and life stories for understanding the history of the Second World War, the post-war period, and the ways in which the past is preserved in individual and collective memory. Such testimonies offer historians insight into personal experiences, everyday life, family stories, trauma, loss, solidarity, and different ways of confronting war and its consequences.
As part of the project, two volumes have been published by Sophia Publishing House in the journal Borec: BOREC No. 820–822, Memories Live On, published in 2023, and BOREC No. 844–846, Memories Live On II, published in 2025. Both volumes bring together introductory studies and personal testimonies that make an important contribution to the study of war, its consequences, and historical memory.
The volumes are available at:
